Police officer dumps Christianity for Islam

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Daniel Amah, renowned for rejecting a $200,000 bribe, has embraced Islam in a ceremony held at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
During the private event held on Tuesday, Amah was formally welcomed into the faith. He adopted Muhammad as his new name.
Speaking in Hausa, the Emir urged Amah to seek Islamic knowledge and diligently observe the five pillars of Islam: belief in Allah, the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and Zakat (charitable giving).
The Emir prayed for Allah’s guidance so that Amah could become one of the best Muslims in the world.
He also admonished him to uphold his good character and remain respectful and obedient to his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs.
Amah previously gained recognition as the Divisional Police Officer in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State when he rejected a $200,000 bribe offered by armed robbery suspects in April 2022. The suspects had stolen over N300 million during a robbery operation.
ACP Daniel Amah received the Award of Integrity from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The prime suspect, Ali Zaki, had coordinated with the robbers to trail and rob a Bureau De Change operator who had $750,000 in cash.
In recognition of his integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah from Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari also honoured him with the prestigious 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, following a recommendation by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, in a letter dated September 13, 2022.
