Renowned advocate Suberu joins global road safety conference in Morocco

Professor Yusuf John Suberu, a renowned advocate for road safety and injury prevention, has joined global leaders at the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Marrakech, Morocco.
This is contained in a statement issued by the volunteer arm of the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) Mayors of the federation on Wednesday in Abuja.
The statement said that the conference, hosted by the Government of Morocco and the World Health Organization (WHO), aimed to address the pressing issue of road safety and halve global deaths by 2030.
With the theme “One Road, One World, Commit to Life”, the conference brings together leaders and experts from around the world to discuss improved road governance, financing, and data collection.
Prof. Suberu is part of a high-level Nigerian delegation that included the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Sen. Said Ahmed Alkali, the President of the Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Monica Dongban-Mensen, and the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps Marshal,(FRSC).
The statement said that Suberu doubled as the representative of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the United Nations Decades of Action on Road Safety and Injury Prevention in Nigeria.
It stated that Suberu had worked closely with stakeholders to promote road safety and sustainable development.
“He is also the National Coordinator of Vehicle Inspection Officers Mayor, a volunteer arm of the Vehicle Inspection Officers of Nigeria.
“The founder of the Dr. Yusuf John Suberu Foundation, which focuses on road safety and sustainable development in Nigeria.
“Suberu’s participation in the conference has reiterated his dedication to ensuring that Nigeria plays a proactive role in global efforts to prevent road accidents and promote sustainable transportation.
“The conference is expected to produce a ministerial declaration that will outline global commitments to road safety and provide a framework for countries to develop their own road safety strategies.
“As a global leader in road safety, Prof. Suberu’s contributions to the conference are expected to be invaluable, and his participation is a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to prioritizing road safety,”the statement said.
