Rivers crisis: Ugochinyere knocked, accused of chasing clout

The Coalition for Good Governance in Rivers State has knocked Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives for chasing clout with his comments regarding the political crisis in the state.
The coalition accused him of taking advantage of the political crisis in the state for personal benefit.
It warmed the lawmaker to stop using offensive language against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The coalition stated that Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere’s actions and utterances have brought shame to the office of a member of the House of Representatives, and urged him to live up to the standards of his title.
It added that this interference in another state’s affairs makes him an interloper meddling in matters outside his competence and outside his constituency.
The coalition in a statement issued Thursday and jointly signed by its President, Joe Samson and Secretary, Aaron Igbijoh said Ugochinyere should keep his focus on his Imo State where people are still compelled to stay at home on Mondays
It stated that his call on the government of Rivers State to invoke sections of the criminal code and institute treason charges against the 23 local government chairmen and their alleged sponsors and co-conspirators, betrays his ignorance and conveniently disregards the fact that the State Assembly has extended their tenure for another six months, adding that the matter is currently before the Court of Appeal.
It emphasised that the lawmaker does not represent Rivers State or any part of it, but rather the people of Ideator North/South in Imo State.
The coalition warned Ugochinyere to desist from his “childish and mercenary” comments on matters concerning Rivers State
The said: “Rivers State has very competent, experienced and well-read representatives in the National Assembly who can effectively speak for the state if and when the need arises.
“It is evident to us that the current rift in Rivers State has become a fertile ground for Ugochinyere once again to further his pecuniary appetite, but we assure him that he will fail at the end of the day.
“Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere should keep his focus on his Imo State where people are still compelled to stay at home on Mondays, children can not go to school and businesses cannot open.
“He is not a Rivers man and he is totally irrelevant in the affairs of Rivers State. He once raised alarms that a man was responsible for killing his uncle and burning his cars. He is already facing enough troubles in his home and personal life and has not demonstrated any ability to solve them.
“We hereby warn Ugochinyere to desist from his childish and mercenary comments on matters concerning Rivers State.
“We will not hesitate henceforth to take any measures we deem necessary against him if he takes this long overdue due warning lightly. Niger Delta is not Imo.”
