SGF decorates new FRSC Corps Marshal, harps on professionalism


The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Sen. George Akume on Tuesday decorated the newly appointed Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed.
Performing the ceremony in Abuja, Akume said that Federal government was expecting more from the FRSC new Corps Marshal.
He said that the position is a sensitive one, adding that it requires much to reduce carnages on the Nigerian roads and restoring sanity on the highways.
The SGF directed the new corps marshall to use his wealth of experience to carry out the mandate of the Corps, while ensuring safer roads for all.
According to him, FRSC was created to make life more meaningful and to make the road safer for all road users in the country.
“We wish you the best on this new assignment because the job is sensitive and very important.
“The Government is expecting much from you and we hope that you will use your experience to drive the FRSC for safety of lives and property,’’ he said.
Akume commended the FRSC for various initiatives toward reducing Road Traffic Trashes (RTCs) and fatalities across the country.
The event was attended by top government officials including the management staff of FRSC, friends and family members of the new Corps Marshal among others.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of ACM Shehu Mohammed as the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on May 20, 2024.
Until his appointment, Mohammed was the Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) in-charge of FCT and Niger state respectively.
Mohammed is also a member, Membership of the National Institute (MNI) as well as other national and international bodies.
