Tension as former APC youth leader killed

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday in Owo, Ondo State, when Fisayo Oladipo, a former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was brutally murdered by suspected gunmen believed to be linked to a cult group.
The incident, which occurred in the Owo Local Government Area, has sent shockwaves through the community. Oladipo, aged 52, was a prominent figure in the region, and his sudden death has sparked widespread grief and condemnation.
Details surrounding the attack remain murky, but sources indicate that his body has been transported to a morgue as investigations continue. The killing has heightened tension in Owo, prompting a significant deployment of security personnel to forestall any potential unrest.
This latest act of violence follows a recent spate of attacks in the area, including a deadly cult clash that reportedly claimed two lives. Concerned residents fear a resurgence of cult-related violence unless decisive action is taken by authorities.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reassured the public that the situation had been brought under control.
“We have deployed our men to support other security agencies on the ground,” he told The Gazette. “The area is now calm, and we urge everyone to await official statements from the authorities.”
