Tension as senior lecturer killed by armed assailants

A senior lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Dr. Osita Chinedu, has been tragically killed by armed assailants in Awka, Anambra State.
The shocking incident occurred on Monday evening near the High Tension area, leaving the academic community and residents in deep mourning.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants blocked Dr. Chinedu’s Toyota Corolla with their vehicle, prompting him to step out to confront them. In a brutal turn of events, the attackers shot him twice in the head.
“After firing two bullets at the man’s head, he collapsed, and blood began gushing out,” a witness told Leadership.
The assailants did not stop there. Reports indicate they went on to run the car over the deceased before fleeing the scene with his vehicle and their own.
Dr. Chinedu, a native of Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, was well-respected in the UNIZIK community. His untimely death has sparked outrage and grief among colleagues, students, and family members.
In response to the incident, the Anambra State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation. Police authorities are calling on the public to provide any information that could assist in tracking the perpetrators or locating the stolen vehicle.
A statement from the command urged residents to contact the police control room or the nearest station with any relevant details.
