Tension in Lagos as fire engulfs 7-storey building

A devastating fire broke out early Friday morning, engulfing a seven-storey building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island Local Government Area.
The said building, which houses several shops, was severely damaged by the blaze.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties so far.
The fire, which started around 5:17 a.m., prompted a rush of residents seeking safety.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has been working diligently to control the flames, which have destroyed goods worth millions of naira.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, reported that firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations were dispatched promptly after the alarm was raised and arrived on the scene by 5:33 a.m.
As of 7 a.m., Adeseye confirmed that the fire was under control thanks to the quick response of the firefighters. Efforts are currently focused on ventilating the area to ensure safety.
Preliminary findings indicate that an electrical surge may have caused the fire.
