A loyal supporter of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Khamis Musa Darazo has championed a campaign to name a road after Hausa musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara.
Khamis Darazo opined that this honour would be a fitting tribute to Rarara’s profound impact on Nigerian music and culture.
In an interview with Journalists in Bauchi Thursday, Darazo said that Rarara’s music has been a powerful force in promoting unity, hope, and resilience, resonating with Nigerians from all walks of life.
According to Darazo, by honoring Rarara in this way, the musician’s legacy would be preserved for years to come and future generations would celebrate his enduring impact on Nigerian culture.
“Throughout the country’s political journey since 1999, his songs have played a significant role in mobilizing support, promoting peaceful coexistence, and inspiring civic engagement,” he said.
Darazo noted that he has written to Minister Nyesom Wike, requesting that he consider naming a road after Rarara.
“Rarara’s legacy extends beyond entertainment, as his music has contributed to social cohesion and national identity.
“His influence can be seen in the way his songs have been used in various campaigns and public events, promoting messages of peace and development.
“This recognition would ensure that future generations remember his contributions to our cultural heritage,” Darazo added. END
