Tragedy strikes as gunmen assassinate prominent traditional chief

His Royal Highness Shagari Ebije’ego Job, the Onu of Itama in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, was brutally murdered by gunmen at his residence on Monday evening.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the heavily armed assailants trailed the monarch to his home, opening fire and killing him instantly. The attack occurred around 9 pm, sending shockwaves through the community.
Residents described the scene as chaotic, with people scattering for safety amidst the gunfire. Upon the attackers’ departure, the lifeless body of the traditional chief was discovered.
The incident has thrown the town into turmoil, prompting many residents to flee to neighboring villages in fear of further violence.
The Kogi State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident, as attempts to reach the Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya, were unsuccessful.
The assassination of the traditional chief has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in mourning and seeking justice for the slain monarch.
