Tragic accident on Ibadan-Lagos expressway claims 25 lives

A devastating collision occurred on Tuesday along the Ojo-Iwo Road section of the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, resulting in the loss of at least 25 lives.
A trailer carrying roofing sheets lost control and crashed into a Hummer bus, Micra taxi, and Honda CR-V car, causing widespread destruction.
Eyewitnesses attributed the accident to the trailer’s brake failure, while also highlighting the ongoing construction on the expressway as a contributing factor. The construction had blocked one lane, forcing vehicles to share a single lane.
Rescue efforts were hindered until private heavy towing vehicles arrived to extract the trapped vehicles. Injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Motorists are calling on the Oyo State government to provide heavy towing vehicles and ambulance buses for emergency situations, and to urge the contractor to open the blocked lane to prevent future accidents.
The accident occurred around the Agbowo/Ojo area, with some motorists witnessing the horrific scene.
