Transfer: Manchester Utd sign Patrick Dorgu

Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, subject to visa and registration.
Denmark International has signed a contract until June 2030, with an option to extend it for an additional year.
A statement on the club’s website titled, “Transfer news: United sign Patrick Dorgu,” confirmed the move on Sunday.
“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Patrick Dorgu has joined the club, subject to visa and registration,” it read.
Dorgu, 20, arrives at Old Trafford after making 57 appearances for Lecce, contributing five goals.
The Danish player will wear jersey number 13.
Another statement on the club website disclosed this.
The Denmark international follows in the footsteps of the likes of Ji-sung Park, Brian McClair and John Curtis, who have previously been allocated that position in the squad.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant was the last to have it, during the 2021/22 season.
The versatile defender has been in outstanding form this season, ranking second in ground duels won in Serie A and attempting the fourth-most take-ons of any defender in the league.
He also announced himself on the international stage in spectacular fashion, scoring with his first touch on his Denmark debut in September.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Dorgu said: “I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family.
“I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”
Manchester United’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, praised the club’s latest acquisition.
He stated, “Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability, and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad.
“Patrick has had a superb start to his career, and at the age of just 20, we know he will continue to develop under the guidance of our excellent coaching team.
“Patrick is the latest exciting young player that we have brought into the club. We believe that each of these talents has world-class potential and the ability to play a key role in achieving the success that everyone at Manchester United is striving for.”
Dorgu’s arrival marks another statement signing for United’s long-term project, as Ruben Amorim builds a squad focused on youth, dynamism, and elite potential, the club statement concluded.
