Vacuum created by Lagbaja’s death difficult to fill in military – Group

A prominent pro-Bola Ahmed Tinubu group on the platform of Renewed Hope Agenda – The Way Forward, has declared that the vacuum created by the death of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, will be difficult to fill in his family and the architecture of military.

The group also said the late Gen. Lagbaja’s kindness was rare and will be solely missed by Nigeria and Nigerians.

In tribute titled “An iconic General”, released to newsmen Tuesday in Abuja, tbe pro-Tinubu group commiserated with the bereaved family and the Nigerian Army over the sad event.

The tribute signed by its National Chairman and Convener, Hon. Sam Atasia Oburu and National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Frank S Nwaforbe, the group siad: “At death, we are only remembered by what we did while alive- good or bad, thus, the totality of our actions and inactions forms the fulcrum of people’s perception about our being and what legacy history shall credit us.

“As a detribalized Nigerian, a peace ambassador, a unifier and a warlord with zero tolerance for crime and insecurity of sorts, the death of Late Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff truly came too sudden and unexpectedly to Nigeria and Nigerians who have enjoyed relative peace in previously crime torn regions of our Nation courtesy of the doggedness and pertinacity of the erstwhile COAS.

As advanced by Leo Tolstoy, a noble Russian writer, ‘Don’t tell me about your religion, but let me see religion in your actions. If you feel pain, you are alive but if you feel the pain of others, you are human.’ The above was the true reflection of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s lifestyle as he remain pained by the challenges bedevilling the Nation in various States and localities. As an Army Chief who came to office at a time Nigeria was fast aligning along religious and ethnic divides, the Late COAS made no mistakes but shone religion and ethnicity to unite the military in the fight against crime and insecurity which as opposed to individual and group sentiments, he saw as a national challenge.
