VIDEO: Davido advises Nigerians abroad amidst current economic woes

Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, known globally as Davido, has warned Nigerians living in the United States against moving back to the country, pointing to Nigeria’s ongoing economic struggles.
Speaking during an appearance on The Big Homies House podcast, the award-winning musician painted a grim picture of the nation’s current state, emphasizing the devastating impact of poor governance and economic mismanagement.
Davido expressed deep concern about Nigeria’s deteriorating living conditions, highlighting the adverse effects of a failing exchange rate, skyrocketing oil prices, and leadership challenges. “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles,” he remarked. He explained that while he serves as an ambassador for Nigeria and often showcases its vibrant culture, he cannot ignore the harsh realities many citizens face daily.
The artiste pointed out the paradox of an oil-producing nation grappling with high fuel costs. “Imagine a country that produces oil paying more for it than countries importing it,” he said. He lamented that such issues, coupled with a weakened naira, have plunged the economy into a precarious state, making life increasingly difficult for the average Nigerian.

Despite his efforts to promote Nigeria’s positive image on the global stage, Davido urged Nigerians in the diaspora to carefully reconsider any plans to return, warning that the current economic climate might not support their aspirations or well-being.
