Ademola Lookman, Nigeria’s football sensation, brought pride and excitement to Nigerians when he addressed the audience in Yoruba after receiving the prestigious 2024 African Footballer of the Year award.
The ceremony, which celebrated Africa’s best football talents, saw Lookman honored for his outstanding performances on the pitch throughout the year. Upon receiving the award, he surprised the crowd by switching to Yoruba, a major Nigerian language, to express his gratitude.
Taking to the podium with poise, Lookman said, “E kaale o, Nigeria. E se, mo dupe. Mo ki gbogbo yin,” which translates to “Good evening Nigerians, thank you, I appreciate. I greet you all.”
