We are united for development of S/South region – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Tuesday, said Governors of the South-South states of the country were united for the overall and integrated development of the region.
He lauded the people of Rivers State for their organic support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, assuring that peace will return to the state again.
Governor Oborevwori who stated this at the inauguration of 21.49km Egbeda internal roads and drainages in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, said Governor Fubara would not dissapoint the people of the state.
He said the project bears true testimony to the commitment of Governor Fubara towards fulfilling his promise of sustainable infrastructural development of the state.
Oborevwori remarked that the road construction would contribute to the socio-economic empowerment and development of not just Egbeda communities but the entire Emohua Local Government Area.
While thanking the people of Egbeda and Emohua for their support for Governor Fubara, Oborevwori charged the residents to avoid dumping refuse on the drains to prevent flooding.
Oborevwori said: “I am happy to be here today to inaugurate the Egbeda community internal roads executed by my brother Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
“Let me thank you for the support for my brother. What I have seen here today is organic love for Governor Fubara. It’s not a borrowed crowd because as we were coming we saw the crowd.
“I saw the traditional rulers well seated, and this is real organic love and I thank you all for the support you have given to my brother and I promise you he will not fail you.
“The significance of my presence here is our deep friendship and brotherhood.
“Coming here today all the way from Delta State shows we are all one in this region. It shows a great relationship between us and it points to the fact that as a state we are supportive of our brother states in the South-South region.
“Our unity as a region is as strong as ever. We are united in this region and we will continue to do well for our people because we are one of the most richest regions in the country.
“We are the ones producing the wealth of this nation and there is no reason we will not give our people development because that is what they want and this is dividends of democracy.”
In his remarks, Rivers Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara thanked Governor Oborevwori for accepting to inaugurate the projects and also lauded the contractor for completing the project on record time.
Fubara also thanked the Egbeda community for their support and cooperation before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
“For all your support we owe you dividends of democracy and I can assure you that we are just starting because if in four months we can finish this and getting this kind of applause you can imagine what will happen in the years to come.
“I can assure you that Rivers State will experience something different from the regular governance.
“Our concern remains the welfare of the people and what we have done here is to build the road to the satisfaction of the people and meeting your needs and solving the flood problem in this community”, he said.
He pledged to extend the road and upgrade the Egbeda community school in the area.
In his welcome remarks, Permanent Secretary Rivers State Ministry of Works, Engr. Atemea Briggs said the project has elevated Egbeda community to a semi-urban town.
