Breaking: PSC calls for IGP Egbetokun’s sack

President Bola Tinubu has been asked by the Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) to sack Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He was asked to be sacked after his alleged interference in the police constable recruitment process.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the union claimed that senior Nigerian Police Force (NPF) officials tried to subvert the recruitment process by secretly inserting names into the list of successful recruits.
Union members, while singing protest songs, criticized the NPF’s response as a diversionary tactic aimed at concealing the inadequacies of police training facilities.
They argued that the NPF’s actions were intended to prevent the president from recognizing the unpreparedness of these training schools to properly train new recruits.
The controversy surrounds the Police Service Commission’s (PSC) recent publication of the list of 10,000 successful candidates from the latest recruitment exercise.
The NPF’s rejection of the list, citing fraud in the recruitment process, has exacerbated the tensions. The union’s call for the Inspector General’s removal is a manifestation of the ongoing struggles and challenges in the police recruitment process.
