Northern group commends Barau Jibrin’s stance on Tax Reform Bills

A Northern Group for National Unity and Integration has commended Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin for his pivotal role in halting the controversial Tax Reform Bill.
During a press briefing in Katsina on Thursday, the group’s spokesperson, Hamza Katsina, lauded the Senate leadership for prioritizing justice and equity by establishing a committee to address the bill’s contentious aspects in collaboration with the executive branch.
Hamza praised Jibrin’s leadership for responding to concerns raised by various stakeholders, including the Northern Governors’ Forum, the National Assembly’s northern caucuses, traditional leaders, and youth groups.
The group condemned attempts to politicize the Senate’s debate on the bill, urging individuals to place national development above political interests.
“It’s disheartening to witness politicians and interest groups hastily judging northern leaders who have worked diligently to safeguard the region’s interests,” Hamza stated.
He emphasized the importance of a development-oriented approach to national issues and commended Jibrin’s efforts in fostering consensus among key figures to benefit the nation.
The group urged Senator Barau Jibrin to maintain his firm stance on matters critical to the country’s unity, peace, prosperity, and overall progress.
