APC speaks on Kwankwaso returning to party

The All progressive congress (APC) has reacted over the possible defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other political figures to the party.
The party issued a strong warning that switching political allegiance will not serve as protection from corruption probes.
Speaking during a press conference at the party’s secretariat in Kano, APC State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, made it clear that while the party is open to welcoming new members, it will not be a refuge for those trying to escape accountability.
The state chapter of the party has also extended an invitation to individuals from other political parties to join its ranks.
Abbas further demanded that prospective defectors who have made derogatory statements against the party’s leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Senator Kashim Shettima, publicly apologize as a sign of remorse.
He noted that the party has directed its ward chapters to open registers for new members, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
However, Abbas clarified that new entrants will not receive any special treatment.
He stated that all members, both old and new, will have equal opportunities to exercise their constitutional rights to vote or be voted for in future party or elective positions.
Lastly, the APC Chairman emphasized that the party will not tolerate cult-like associations or groupings under the guise of political activities.
