Flick opts for low-key Copa del Rey celebration

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, has reportedly requested a low-key celebration should Barcelona lift the Copa del Rey, favouring focus over festivity with a Champions League semi-final looming just days later.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, the German manager is already planning for all eventualities ahead of the final against Real Madrid in Seville on 26 April. With the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan set for 30 April, Flick is determined not to let celebrations interfere with preparation.

Barcelona still have league fixtures against Celta and Mallorca before that decisive Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja. And with the calendar offering little respite, Flick has made it clear that even a trophy win should not disrupt the rhythm and recovery of his squad.

Rather than host a full-blown celebration, Flick is in favour of a simple team dinner in Seville following the final, should Barcelona emerge victorious. The idea is to create a positive atmosphere within the group without compromising physical condition and mental focus ahead of the club’s most crucial European tie of the season.

Barcelona’s campaign could hinge on the space of a few weeks, with league fixtures wedged between the Copa del Rey final and both legs against Inter.

The second leg is scheduled for 6 May — just days before a potentially decisive Clasico in La Liga. Flick, who is pushing his players to compete on all fronts, wants no distractions as the business end of the season approaches.
