Rudeboy reacts as Jude Okoye regains freedom from detention

Afro-pop sensation, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has broken his silence following the release of his elder brother and former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye, from police custody after spending two months behind bars.
Jude Okoye was earlier arrested and arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦1.38 billion money laundering scandal. During his court appearance, Justice Alexander Owoeye of a Lagos court ordered that he be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility pending his bail hearing on March 3, 2025. The trial was scheduled to commence on April 14, 2025.
Though bail was eventually granted with stringent conditions—two sureties valued at ₦100 million each and a restriction from traveling outside Nigeria—Jude was reportedly re-arrested shortly after securing the initial bail.
However, late yesterday Jude finally met the bail requirements and returned home to his family. A heartwarming video circulating online showed him stepping out of a car and embracing his wife, marking an emotional reunion.
Reacting to his brother’s release, Rudeboy took to his Instagram story to share a cryptic message, seemingly aimed at those who may have attempted to frustrate Jude’s bail process.
“All una efforts don waste,” he wrote. “Welcome back home, and happy birthday my blood.”
The subtle jab has stirred mixed reactions online, with fans of the Okoye brothers celebrating the news of Jude’s release, while others speculated about the target of Rudeboy’s message.
Jude Okoye, once a major figure in Nigeria’s music industry, managed the now-defunct P-Square duo and has remained an influential force in the entertainment scene. His legal troubles have cast a spotlight on ongoing financial crime investigations involving high-profile personalities in the country.
