UTME: Popular influencer slams early morning JAMB exam schedule

Popular Nigerian influencer and media personality, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, has created online debate after openly criticizing the early morning scheduling of the ongoing JAMB examinations.
His comments came in the wake of the incident involving a young female JAMB candidate who went missing and was later found in Ijebu Ode two days after she left home to write her exam.
Taking to social media, the 25-year-old influencer slammed what he described as the “anyhowness” that has plagued Nigerian systems, questioning the rationale behind setting national exams for as early as 6:30 a.m.
“My major problem with Nigeria is our anyhowness. It has creeped so much into the system that you find a person doing a certain thing, and you ask them why, and they have no logical reasoning for it,” Enioluwa stated.
He expressed deep concern over the safety, mental preparedness, and wellbeing of secondary school students — many aged between 14 and 17 — who are forced to leave their homes as early as 5 a.m. to sit for such critical examinations. In a country grappling with security challenges and economic hardship, he argued that the early timing puts young candidates at unnecessary risk.
Enioluwa further questioned whether any scientific research or consideration of public safety was made before fixing such early schedules, emphasizing that factors like optimal performance time, transportation issues, and general security should have been prioritized.
“I have seen comments online about people missing after leaving home to write JAMB. When it is light banter, it is okay. But when it becomes a real issue, can we look into our cerebrum and think a little? Because this is a serious issue that would affect people’s lives,” he added.
