Benue new CP assumes duty

The Benue State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by its new Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, PhD., psc., mnips.

CP Emenari, a seasoned officer with over three decades of experience, hails from Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos and further obtained a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Literature in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Enlisted into the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992, CP Emenari has built a distinguished career, serving in operational, investigative, and administrative roles across several states, including Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Cross River, Osun, Ogun, Abia, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

As a mobile police officer, he commanded various Police Mobile Force (PMF) units, including 27 PMF Katsina, 29 PMF Awka, and 11 PMF Calabar between 1996 and 2003. His international experience is equally impressive, having served as a Contingent Commander for the Nigerian Police Contingent to the United Nations Mission in Sudan, and as Deputy Security Advisor in Eastern Equatorial State, South Sudan.

Domestically, CP Emenari also held leadership positions such as Commandant of the Police College of Information Technology, Abeokuta, and Area Commander of Akwete Area Command, Abia State. Until his recent posting, he served as the Commissioner of Police and Force Provost Marshal at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.

An advocate of continuous professional development, CP Emenari has completed specialized trainings including the Unit Combat Course and the Armoured Personnel Carrier Course at the PMF Training School, Gwoza, as well as the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja.

As he assumes leadership in Benue, CP Emenari pledged to prioritize community policing, strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, and deploy resources effectively to combat insecurity and safeguard lives and property across the state.

The Benue State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, CSP Anene Sewuese Catherine, expressed confidence in the new Commissioner’s capacity to lead the Command towards greater security achievements.
