Adeyanju condemns David Ibiyeomie’s controversial statement

Popular lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the founder of the salvation ministry Pastor David Ibiyeomie, over recent controversial statement.
Adeyanju on a social media post on Tuesday, emphasised on a recent statement by Ibiyeomie.
He said the statement by the cleric has sparked a widespread criticism and outrage.
The cleric in his statement warned that anyone who criticizes him or his church will face imprisonment, boasting that he would use the police to lock up such individuals.
Many Nigerians on social media have expressed are disappointed with Pastor Ibiyeomie’s stance.
Critics argue that his comments are unbecoming of a man of God and that they undermine the principles of free speech and criticism.
Some have drawn parallels between Pastor Ibiyeomie’s behavior and that of politicians who often use their power to silence critics, others have pointed out that Jesus Christ himself faced criticism during his ministry and didn’t resort to threats or violence.
He further stated that the controversy surrounding Pastor Ibiyeomie’s statement has also raised concerned about the role of religious leaders in society, some also argued that such behavior is down grading Christianity and contributing to the decline in church attendance.
Though many Nigerians continues to be wondering on what kind of message will this be sending to politicians and other leaders who may be tempted to use their power to silence critics.
