Afe Babalola to share life experiences on digital TV show

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Akin Fadeyi Foundation has said Dr Afe Babalola, a prominent Nigerian lawyer and Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, will be the commission guest to share his life story on its digital TV show, ‘The Impact Series.’
The programme, titled ‘The Impact Series by Akin Fadeyi,’ is proposed to be broadcast on digital platforms, including YouTube and various social media channels.
Mr Akin Fadeyi, the founder and CEO of Akin Fadeyi Foundation, made this revelation on Wednesday at a virtual media briefing while announcing the inaugural of the news story-telling digital platform.
He described the initiative as a programme designed to unveil milestones, acknowledge extraordinary accomplishments, and foster a culture of appreciation.
He said, “There are many people in our society who as nobody become somebody in life through their struggles. They, against all odds, weathered the storm and rode on their challenges to get to the top. Many of them are either unsung or faintly sung.
“We want to identify and celebrate such people when they’re still alive.
“We don’t want them to die unsung. We don’t believe in celebrating people after their demise. It is more honourable to celebrate people when they are alive.”
“They are the kinds of people Impact Series is meant for.
“The Impact Series is not for people with questionable character, not for people who jumped the fence to get to the top. Not even for politicians, who have no other address than politics. Not also for people, who get to the top because of having all the opportunities around them, maybe were born into rich homes, or went to the best of schools in town, or their parents are friends to somebody or people in a position of influence, or who get rich through dubious means such as Yahoo Yahoo or scammers and so forth.”
“Baba Afe indeed has given so much to the society and he is still giving daily and it is not too much to celebrate him.
“We don’t know of any other individual in the entire Ekiti State, for example, who has given so much as him to the people of Ekiti.
“Even though I have never met him one-on-one in my life before and till now, I admired his story so much.”
However, Fadeyi, stated that the Foundation wasn’t overlooking the prior celebrations of Aare Afe Babalola, nor was it aiming to create a PR piece for him. Instead, the foundation’s approach to honoring him and others in future features would be distinctive.
Fadeyi said the series would also celebrate every Nigerian making exceptional contributions to humanity, generosity, and kindness, while also building meaningful legacies for future generations.
“The Impact Series will shine a light on individuals making a difference, even with limited resources. This could include public facility cleaners, diligent security operatives, teachers, artisans, and anyone exemplifying the quality virtues for which Nigerians are renowned,” he stated.
He emphasized that those chosen for the program’s features would be nominated and subjected to an unbiased screening process by qualified individuals who are committed to honoring Nigerians while they are still living.
