ASUU begins protest over dismissal of lecturers

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos Zone, will hold a protest on Tuesday, in support of five dismissed lecturers of the Lagos State University, Ojo.
A letter of invitation made available to newsmen on Monday said they were illegally dismissed by LASU.
The letter reads, “This is to respectfully invite you to the National Day of Solidarity Rally in support of five of our members illegally dismissed from service by the inept, inglorious and vindictive an administration at the Lagos State University, Ojo.”
The rally will commence by 10 am.
Reports revealed in 2019, the university’s management dismissed several ASUU members, including Isaac Oyewumi, the union’s chairman; Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, vice chairman; Dr. Tony Dansu, secretary; Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan, assistant secretary; and Oluwakemi Aboderin-Shonibare, treasurer.
The university asserted that accusations of unauthorised removal, retention, distribution, or publication of official confidential documents led to the dismissal of the lecturers.
However, previous reports revealed that the affected lecturers had refuted the allegations.
