Breaking: LAUTECH student shot dead, 2 others injured

A student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso was, on Monday shot dead by a yet to be identified security agent at a popular lounge in the town.

Also, it was learnt that during the incident, two other students were said to have sustained injuries resulting in protest by students of the University early on Tuesday.

It was gathered that trouble started at the lounge few hours after the commencement of the 2024 Convocation ceremony of the institution held at the University main campus on Monday.

Sensing danger with the trend of hot argument among students, the owner of the lounge was said to have called for the intervention of security agents.

Responding to the distress call, the security agents reportedly arrived the venue to bring the situation under control during which gunshots were said to be fired into the air to scare away those at night party .

Oyo state Police Command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP Adewale Osifeso said the Command has commenced investigation into the matter.

According to SP Osifeso in a short statement “Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly please.”
