Bwala slams El-Rufai over TV interview

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed the claims made by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, during his recent television interview, describing them as “incoherent and disorganized.”
El-Rufai, while speaking on Arise Television on Monday evening, alleged that Tinubu personally blocked his ministerial appointment and that the National Assembly had no role in his exclusion. He insisted that the Senate’s decision in August 2023 to withhold his confirmation—citing security concerns from the State Security Service (SSS)—was merely a cover-up.
“Since then, has anyone released that report telling us what the security issue was?” El-Rufai questioned, suggesting that the explanation given for his rejection was politically motivated.
The former governor also cast doubt on his support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, arguing that the president was failing to meet expectations in leading Nigeria to greater heights.
Reacting to the interview, Bwala took to X (formerly Twitter) to fire back at El-Rufai, accusing him of twisting facts to suit his narrative.
He wrote:
“Mallam El-Rufai’s interview on Arise News was full of word salad—jumbles of incoherent and disorganized statements aimed at distorting the truth to reshape history and patterns.
“His philosophy is: if it is not about him, then everybody must be a victim of his ambition. Believe him at your own peril.”
Bwala’s comments have further intensified the political drama between El-Rufai and Tinubu’s camp, as the former governor continues to make waves with his bold criticisms of the administration.
