Govt covers medical bills of Imo road crash victims


The Imo State Government has said it will covered the expenses of the accident victims hospitalised at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri.
Chinyere Ekomaruhe Deputy Governor, who represented Hope Uzodinma on a visit to the hospital stated that the governor had shown compassion to the victims.
“I urge all Imolites to continue to pray for the quick recovery of the victims at this moment of trial and pray for the repose of the souls of the unfortunate dead ones. There’s still hope for the living as some have been discharged already”, the governor submitted.
Dr Kingsley Achigbu, the Chief Medical Director of Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri, said, “The timely evacuation of the victims from the accident scene helped a lot in saving their lives. Upon the arrival of victims to the hospital, immediate attention was given to them.
“Thirteen victims were brought in with two dead on arrival. He said nine of them are still alive, some of whom have multiple fractures and are being prepared for surgeries, while the rest who are stable are already discharged”, the CMD informed
Nnamdi Anyaehie, Ekomaru and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, visited the hospital, relaying the promise of the governor to take care of the victims’ bills.
Thediscovererng.com had reported tragic auto crash involving a truck and commercial buses at Imo State University Junction in Owerri has resulted in the loss of approximately six lives, including Dr. Nick Isinwa, a lecturer at the state university, and has left numerous individuals injured.
