Hisbah halts male DJs from officiating female events in Kano

The Kano State Hisbah Board has issued a ban on male Disc Jockeys (DJs) from officiating at female-dominated events across the state, in a bid to uphold Islamic values and prevent the mixing of males and females during events.
The Commander General of the board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, emphasized the importance of maintaining separate gatherings for males and females to prevent the promotion and spread of immorality.
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of DJs in the state, Sheikh Daurawa stated, “As an Islamic state, it is unacceptable for us to allow the indiscriminate mixing of males and females at the same event. This can promote and spread immorality.”
In response to this directive, Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known as DJ Farawa, representing the DJs, expressed appreciation for the board’s guidance and new guidelines aimed at preserving the sanctity of prayer times during events and ensuring gender segregation.
“We are happy with the invitation from the Hisbah Board to our union of DJs. They have given us guidelines on the sanctity of prayer times during events and the need to prevent the mixing of males and females during those events,” Ibrahim said.
He further stressed that all DJs performing in the state must abide to the new guidelines issued by the Hisbah Board to avoid facing sanctions.
Additionally, Ibrahim warned that non-registered DJs performing in the state would not be protected by the union if they were found to have violated the Hisbah guidelines.
The move by the Kano State Hisbah Board highlight its dedication to upholding Islamic principles and ensuring the moral conduct of events in the state.
