How Covenant University retains top spot in Times Higher Education ranking

Covenant University has secured the number one position in Nigeria for the second consecutive year according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.
This prestigious ranking places Covenant University among the top 1,000 universities globally, coming in at 801st.
The University of Ibadan, a longstanding institution of high regard, follows closely behind in second place nationally. Rounding out the top three is the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings measure university performance across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook. This year’s ranking saw the implementation of a new methodology, WUR 3.0, designed to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of an institution’s strengths.
While Covenant University boasts national dominance, several other Nigerian universities achieved recognition within the ranking. These include the University of Ilorin, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University.
The full list encompasses 39 universities across the country, showcasing the breadth of Nigeria’s academic landscape.
