Mendy joins Switzerland club, FC Zurich

Former Man City left-back, Benjamin Mendy, has signed for FC Zurich in Switzerland.
According to a post obtained from Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Wednesday, the 30-year-old has signed a contract until 2026 and joins from French club Lorient, where he had spent the last one-and-a-half seasons.
Mendy joined Lorient after being released by Manchester City, where he made 75 appearances between 2017 and 2022.
Recall that Mendy won his legal case against Manchester City to recover a significant portion of his unpaid salary, which had been withheld during his trial on rape charges.
He joined Lorient later that month, almost two years after playing his last professional appearance, and played 15 times for the club. Lorient was relegated to Ligue 2 after the 2023-24 season.
Zurich are eighth in the league table, seven points off leaders Basel. The Swiss transfer window remains open until February 17.
