Mokwa flood ordained by God – Babangida

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has reacted to the recent devastating flood in Mokwa, Niger State.
He attributed the flood as an act of God.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message delivered on Friday, Babangida reacted to the tragedy that claimed nearly 200 lives, describing it as an unfortunate occurrence beyond human control.
The former leader, who received a Sallah delegation from the Niger State Government at his residence in Minna, expressed his condolences to bereaved families and urged Nigerians to offer prayers for the victims.
“What happened in Mokwa is unfortunate, but it is ordained by Allah. It is beyond our powers, and this is why we should all continue to pray for the souls of the deceased,” he said.
During the visit, which was led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, Babangida also praised Governor Umaru Bago’s administration for its ongoing development initiatives across the state. He encouraged the government to remain committed to its developmental vision, assuring them of his continued support.
Garba explained that the visit aimed to seek Babangida’s blessings and guidance, particularly in light of the recent disaster.
“We are aware that the General is disturbed by the recent incident in Mokwa. All we need from all and sundry is prayers, and we will also appreciate your fatherly role at all times, especially at this trying period,” Garba said.
“The people of Niger State and Nigeria in general are appreciative of your diligent service to the country and we assure you that the State Government will not fail you as you remain a pillar of hope for the Nation,” he added.
