Police arrest popular prankster

Popular social media influencer and prankster, Ubani Zion, professionally known as ZFancy, was arrested Wednesday by the Nigeria Police Force’s National Centre for Cyber Crimes in Abuja.
According to a senior official at the centre, ZFancy was taken into custody in connection with one of his prank videos, which had sparked accusations of involvement in ritualistic activities on social media.
On June 16, 2024, entertainer Dami Adenuga posted a video featuring a woman named Kokina, who alleged that ZFancy had used ritualism in a prank involving her missing friend.
The post caught the attention of the Nigeria Police, who urged Kokina to file a report at the nearest station, prompting an investigation.
Sekyen Ariya, aka @Seky_Posh on Instagram, shared a tearful video recounting her alleged terrifying experience with ZFancy.
She explained that a member of ZFancy’s team contacted her for a job and photoshoot, offering her N100,000. After encouragement from her friend Kokina, Seky called back to inquire about the job owner and was told it was for ZFancy. She further alleged that she was instructed to bring a friend along to the shoot on the mainland.
Although Kokina couldn’t accompany her due to work commitments, Seky took another friend, Bella, instead.
She tearfully recounted her alleged ordeal with ZFancy’s crew. After agreeing to meet in Costain, Lagos, Timothy, a crew member, picked her and her friend Bella up in a black Benz with tinted windows, and they saw ZFancy inside.
Seky claimed that shortly after, she became disoriented and found herself in a public area, unclothed and surrounded by a crowd. Overcome with emotion, she expressed gratitude for her safety. However, she alarmingly revealed that her friend Bella was missing, and her mother had been frantically trying to contact her.
Following the viral video, the police confirmed the arrest of ZFancy in connection with the incident.
Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi stated, “Yes, it’s related to a case involving a misleading prank.” arrest popular prankster
