Portable rejects Speed Darlington’s call for rematch after ₦20M gift from Burna Boy

Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has publicly turned down a rematch with fellow entertainer Speed Darlington, citing a ₦20 million cash gift from Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy as his reason.
The street-hop artiste made this known in a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), where he bluntly told event organizers to find another opponent, making it clear he’s done trading punches with Speedy.
Portable, who defeated Speed Darlington in a celebrity boxing match, revealed that his opponent had been eager for a rematch and was ready to back it up with a hefty offer. But for Portable, Burna Boy’s generosity has made that proposal irrelevant.
“Joy don come! Burna Boy na Odogwu. The money long! Dem dey tell me before, now I know,” Portable said gleefully. “Burna Boy don send ₦20 million. I no want rematch o.”
He added that the same ₦20 million Speed Darlington intended to offer for a rematch had already landed in his account from Burna Boy.
“The ₦20 million you wan use for rematch, Burna Boy don send am. If you still wan send another ₦20 million, send am—I need the money—but no rematch. Bring another person. Not that fool!”
In his usual unfiltered style, Portable also threw jabs at Speed Darlington, calling him a “fool at 40” for embarrassing himself during their bout and now seeking a second chance in the ring.
The unexpected twist in the boxing saga has sparked fresh conversations online, with fans debating whether Portable is dodging a potential upset or simply basking in Burna Boy’s goodwill.
Either way, it seems one thing is certain—Portable is cashing out, not squaring up.
