Poverty alleviation: Foundation reaffirms commitment to national, regional initiatives

The Dr Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national and regional initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in Nigeria.

Speaking during a training on entrepreneurial skills, organised for Youths and teenagers on Thursday in Abuja, the foundation’s Executive Director, Dr Yusuf Suberu, emphasised the organisation’s dedication to tackling poverty through sustainable programs.

Suberu said that the foundation envisioned a world where people thrive, equipped with resources and opportunities to shape their futures.

The founder emphasised that the organisation’s mission was to empower orphans, combat illiteracy, and protect children, thereby reducing poverty and fostering national peace and stability.

He, however, emphasised that the foundation’s focused on sustainable programs , including vocational training and entrepreneurship schemes.

He also stressed the importance of collective efforts in addressing poverty adding that empowering communities required collaborative action.

Suberu highlighted the foundation’s impactful engagement, bringing novel solutions and expert insights to augment state and non-state actors’ efforts in addressing pressing social issues.

He said “our initiatives focus on education, economic empowerment, health among others. We are dedicated to youth empowerment and the vulnerable are not left out.

“Empowering youths and vulnerable populations is crucial to breaking the poverty cycle in any nation across the world. We recognise the devastating impact of poverty on individuals, communities, and the nation at large.

“Our foundation is committed to contributing meaningfully to national and regional efforts aimed at eradicating poverty in our dear country, Nigeria

“The foundation has implemented various initiatives, including vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and economic empowerment schemes, benefiting over 5,000 individuals in the past year.

“Today, we are planning to equip 500 youths in FCT with diverse skills, fostering financial independence and self-employment.

“Our organisation also seeks to bridge gaps between marginalised youth and resources, fostering transformative change,”said.

The executive director said that the foundation had partnered with government agencies, international organisations, and local stakeholders to amplify its impact.

“Our organisation is mobilising stakeholders across private and public sectors through targeted advocacy, and inspiring youths to volunteer their expertise and energies towards driving positive social change.

“The foundation’s primary objective is to empower individuals across Nigeria and beyond, transcending geographical boundaries and nationalities and we have started and we will not relent, “,he assured.

Suberu reaffirmed the foundation’s unwavering focus and support on addressing poverty, aligning with national and regional development goals across the 36 states and FCT.

Youths and teenagers at the training praised the foundation’s efforts, urging sustained efforts to address Nigeria’s poverty challenges.
