Rivers: APC chieftain critises Magnus Abe over comment on stranded lawmakers

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent APC member in Rivers State, criticized Senator Magnus Abe for his remarks on the 27 stranded Rivers lawmakers. Eze labeled Abe’s comments as distorted and reflective of his role as a political operative. Eze, a former PDP spokesman, argued that the lawmakers’ defection invalidated their positions in the Rivers State House of Assembly, contrary to Abe’s claims.

Abe had previously cited his own defection from PDP in 2014 without repercussions as a precedent. Eze countered that the 2014 defections were driven by significant internal crises within the PDP, which led to the formation of the PDP and eventually a merger with APC.

Eze accused Abe of ignoring the distinct circumstances of the current defections to gain favor with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. He suggested Abe’s actions were an attempt to secure a federal appointment. Eze also noted that the recent resignations from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet were a beneficial purge, allowing for new leadership.

Eze warned Abe against involving former Governor Amaechi in his criticisms and urged Wike to recommend Abe for a federal appointment to end his political marginalization.
