Breaking: Tragedy strikes in Ibadan as building collapse claims lives

At least ten persons have reportedly lost their lives after a building collapsed in the Jegede Olorunsogo area of Ona Ara Local Government in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, around 2 a.m., with rescue efforts still ongoing.
According to the Oyo State Fire Services, they received a distress call about the collapse, prompting an immediate response. The agency’s General Manager, Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the tragic development, stating that emergency teams have recovered the bodies of ten victims from the rubble, while three others were pulled out alive.
“At around 2 a.m. today, we received a distress call regarding a collapsed building in the Jegede Olunloyo area,” Rev. Akinyinka said. “So far, ten people have been recovered from the debris, with three rescued alive. Rescue operations are ongoing,” he added.
Emergency responders, including local authorities and fire service teams, are working tirelessly to search for any additional survivors. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, and further investigations are expected as recovery efforts continue.
