Transfer: Man City land Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves

Manchester City have reached a full agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri until the summer of 2030, with the total fee close to €40 million.
The 23-year-old has accepted Manchester City’s proposal, committing to the project put forward by the club. “Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 24-year-old left-back has penned a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium meaning he will remain at the Club until the summer of 2030,” reads the statement.
Known for his versatility and technical skill, Ait-Nouri has often drawn comparisons to Joao Cancelo for his ability to operate effectively both defensively and in advanced positions.
He had been a key figure for Wolves since arriving in 2020, steadily developing into one of the most reliable full-backs in the Premier League.
City’s move for the Algerian comes as part of a strategic push to strengthen the left-back position following a disappointing domestic campaign. Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled for consistency in wide defensive areas, prompting the club to act swiftly in the early stages of the transfer window.
Ait-Nouri becomes the latest addition in City’s efforts to rebuild and reinforce ahead of the 2025/26 season, with further signings expected in the coming weeks. The former Wolves man is tipped to show what he’s made of at the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States.
