VIDEO: Portable defends self after slapping pastor

Nigerian singer Portable has spoken out following the viral video where he slapped a pastor who visited his bar to preach.
Thediscovererng.com reports that the incident, which occurred on Monday last week, has sparked outrage, with many, including other pastors, condemning Portable’s actions and challenging him to face them in their churches.
According to reports, the altercation began when a pastor arrived at Portable’s bar to share the word of God, only for the singer to slap him. The situation quickly escalated, leading to widespread criticism, with religious leaders calling out the controversial singer for what they described as a “barbaric” act.
In response to the backlash, Portable took to his social media accounts to explain his side of the story. In a video circulating online, the singer claimed that he felt threatened and suspected a setup, though he didn’t provide specific details about who was involved or how they intended to trap him.
Portable also expressed remorse, asking for God’s forgiveness. “I didn’t know he was a man of God,” he said, adding that his reaction was driven by past experiences, including a situation where harm was done to his sister.
He further elaborated that he had a dream in which someone came to take sand from his surroundings. To his shock, he woke up and found the pastor at his bar, prompting him to believe there was a connection. In the video, he mentioned that the Pastor had ordered them to bring some sand and perform prayers before things escalated.

The singer’s explanation has continued to stir debate on social media, with some supporting his claims of feeling targeted, while others maintain that his actions were unjustifiable, regardless of the circumstances.
As the controversy continues, many are watching to see if Portable will take further steps to reconcile with the pastor and the religious community, or if the situation will further strain his public image.
