Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have resolved to work together to change the narrative and secure political control of the six Area Council of the territory by the party.

They equally agreed to put behind them allegations of anti-party behaviours and elements that caused it to loose in some Area Councils in the last elections, with a resolve to face the next year Area Council elections as “a united, strong and focused family”.

These decisions were reached yesterday at a unity rally of critical stakeholders and party leaders from all the 62 wards and the 6 Area Council of the territory in Abuja.

Addressing the gathering, the leader of the party in the FCT and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Hon. Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo, said a lot had happened to the party due to internal wrangling but it was a different atmosphere now ahead of the coming elections.

Jisalo said the meeting could have been called earlier, but for the court case over the outcome of the party’s congresses.

The APC Chieftain reminded the party faithful that no one was above the party, and with the new found unity, they should deliver the 62 Wards and 6 Areas Councils to the party.

The Minister said the party leadership has given him the responsibility of overseeing the next year Area Councils election, promising to discharge the duty without fear or favour.

The National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, represented by the Deputy National Chairman North, Alhaji Bukar Dalori, explained that the party has been disturbed by the crisis ravaging the party in the FCT and promised that enough was enough.

Noting the rising profile of the party nationwide and in the Federal Capital Territory, Ganduje predicted that the party would soon regain full control of the political structure of the FCT.

He however appealed to the APC in the FCT to ensure they come up with the best candidates who would carry the people along and bring the needed development.

The FCT Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulrazak Usman, said issues that affected the party in the past which led to litigations had been resolved and that all members were united, and ready to move on.

He recalled the promised made to the National body of the party at their inauguration, that the FCT will be hundred per cent under the control of the APC, which the Executive Committee was ready to fulfil.
