Bago advocates for more police personnel in Niger

Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has called for more police personnel and hardware support to aid in curtailing insecurity in the State.
Farmer Governor Umaru Bago made the call when he received the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Zone 7, Benneth Igweh, on a familiarization visit to Niger State .
Bago in a statement through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, He said “the State needs more personnel to help in policing the State, while also disclosing that the State Government is working with other security agencies to neutralise all terrorists who have infiltrated the State.
“The farmer Governor said his administration is undertaking a non-kinetic approach in addressing the insecurity that has bedeviled the State.
“He noted that Niger State, being the largest land mass in the Country, has many ungoverned spaces, creating opportunity for banditry and other criminal activities.
“The farmer Governor stressed the urgent need to secure the ungoverned spaces to allow farmers return to their farms.
“While applauding the Police Commissioner, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Dan-Mamman for his commitment and dedication, the farmer Governor said his administration is poised to work with all security Agencies in the State to curb crimes”.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Zone 7, Benneth Igweh, in his remarks said, he was at the Government House Minna to pay a visit to the Farmer Governor and inform him of his mission in the State.
He revealed that he is in Niger State as an extension of his policing movement within Zone 7 and also part of his duty tour to study the terrain in the State, with the view to mapping it out into sectors and mop up all black spots to ensure it is free from crimes.
AIG Igweh while speaking to Journalists on the issue of rising cases of phone theft in the State, disclosed that the Police have the mechanism to track any stolen phone and called on anyone whose phone is stolen to report to the nearest Police Station and provide details of the phone for tracking.
