Bobrisky released after EFCC arrest

Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after denying involvement in an alleged N15 million bribe to dismiss money laundering charges.
The controversy began with a viral audio recording allegedly featuring Bobrisky’s voice, claiming he had paid the hefty bribe to EFCC officials to have charges dropped. The recording, reportedly shared by social commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, set off public scrutiny. Bobrisky was arrested late Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as he prepared to board an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight to London.
Following his arrest, Bobrisky informed his followers on social media that he had sustained injuries during the incident. He was then taken to EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he faced questioning about the alleged bribery.
During the interrogation, Bobrisky is said to firmly denied all claims made in the recording, insisting he had never paid any bribe and challenging VeryDackMan to substantiate the authenticity of the audio. According to a source close to the investigation, Bobrisky denied “everything about releasing money to any official as a bribe to drop the money laundering charges.” The source added that Bobrisky also demanded that VeryDarkMan present proof of the recording’s validity.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed Bobrisky’s release but declined to provide further comments on the ongoing investigation.
The incident continues to generate heated reactions online as Nigerians follow the developments closely.
