Neymar signals willingness to stay at Santos

Neymar has his sights set on staying at Santos as he was optimistic about his renewal with the Brazilian club, with whom his contract expires on 30 June.
Neymar’s future is one of the hot topics in Brazilian football. The star player’s contract with Santos expires on 30 June and rumours of a change of scenery (from a return to Europe to an adventure in Major League Soccer) have been rife for days.
However, the latest steps suggest that the player’s objective is none other than to stay with the ‘Peixe’. This was revealed by his father the other day and later confirmed by the player himself.
“How many options do I give that I stay at Santos? From zero to ten? A seven!”, Neymar told “BandSport” during an event for the foundation headed by the 33-year-old star. A statement of intent that shows Neymar’s optimism with the negotiations to stay at his forever club.
“My history with Santos will never disappear. I was born in Santos and I want to die there. It is my home, the team of my heart,” said Neymar. “I came here to recover and regain my happiness. I’m in that process, readapting my body to get back to my best,” he said.
These words show the striker’s desire to stay at the club despite the fact that his performances have not been as good as expected so far (he has only played 711 minutes) and the noise and controversy surrounding his off-field behaviour (with his attendance at the Rio Carnival and Kings League matches during his recovery being the main objects of debate among fans).
